Juvederm Ultra and UltraPlus

The smooth gel filler that lasts up to a year with one treatment.

What is Juvederm XC®?

JUVEDERM® XC is the smooth gel filler that your doctor uses to instantly smooth away wrinkles around your mouth and nose. With just one treatment, you'll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.

How is Juvederm XC® made?

JUVEDERM® XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS„¢ technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. With JUVEDERM® XC you get the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want.

How does Juvederm XC® work?

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Using a dermal filler like JUVEDERM® XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

How should patients prepare for treatment with Juvederm XC®?

Some doctors recommend that you avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories

(NSAIDs), for at least a week prior to receiving the treatment for wrinkles in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Ask your healthcare professional what he or she recommends.

Your doctor can design your wrinkle correction with Juvederm XC® specifically for you and your face!

If your physician determines that JUVEDERM® XC is right for you, he or she will then examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment for wrinkles. JUVEDERM® XC is indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, (such as nasolabial folds). JUVEDERM® XC injectable gel is available in two formulations ”JUVEDERM® Ultra XC for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds in the skin, and JUVEDERM® Ultra Plus XC, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles in the skin. This allows your healthcare professional to better tailor treatment to your unique skin volume needs. They may even take pre-treatment photographs so you can see the difference after receiving the treatment!

How is the treatment done?

Anesthetic may not be needed prior to treatment since JUVEDERM® XC is specially formulated with lidocaine (a type of anesthetic) to improve comfort during treatment. Your physician may also elect to use a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment area before the injections.

Your healthcare professional will then ease the JUVEDERM® XC under your skin (where wrinkles and folds occur) to replace lost skin volume. Following the injection, your healthcare professional may gently massage the treated areas. The procedure is quick and easy and the results are instant! The injection itself usually takes only about 15 minutes.

What is the aftercare with Juvederm XC®?

You may experience pain, tenderness, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, and bumps at the injection sites. Studies have shown that these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack for a brief period. Be sure to report any redness and/or visible swelling that last for more than a few days (or any other symptoms that cause you concern) after receiving treatment to your healthcare professional and/or contact Allergan Product Support at 1-877-345-5372. Your healthcare professional will tell you when makeup may be applied after your wrinkle treatment.

When do you see results?

How long will the results last? You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need one injectable dermal filler treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing and improve skin volume. Just one treatment with JUVEDERM® XC can smooth away your wrinkles for up to 1 year! However, results from injectable dermal fillers may vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental "touch up" treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal correction of your wrinkles and folds.

How safe is Juvederm XC®?

With any cosmetic treatment, safety is the first concern. As always, it's important to consult with your doctor before deciding on a wrinkle treatment. Because JUVEDERM XC® injectable gel is a non-surgical, in-office treatment, most patients experience minimal recovery and downtime.
